The Mental Health Department aims to provide mentors with the knowledge and tools necessary to engage effectively in peer-to-peer mentorship. Our focus is on emotional well-being, communication, and resilience, and ensuring that both mentors and mentees feel supported, heard, and empowered throughout their transplant journey.
We are actively involved in developing culturally sensitive training modules and creating accessible resources that promote self-efficacy, stress management, and healthy coping. Through education and collaboration, we strive to foster a compassionate, growth-oriented environment where every voice matters.
Current Projects
- Developing evidence-based modules covering boundaries, active listening, crisis response, and emotional self-care.
- Mentee Resource Library: Curating printable and digital guides to help recipients and caregivers navigate post-transplant adjustment, grief, and resilience.
- Support & Reflection Groups: Coordinating monthly mentor debriefs and guided reflection sessions to prevent burnout and enhance emotional connection
For Volunteers
We welcome volunteers who are passionate about emotional wellness and peer connection. Whether you’re a transplant recipient, have a background in behavioral health/mental health or are passionate about mental health advocacy and support, your lived experience and empathy can make a difference. We also recognize that many volunteers may have faced their own mental health challenges and that mentorship often deepens empathy, understanding, and the ability to hold space for others. Our program provides training, education, and community support so that all mentors can contribute meaningfully while also prioritizing their own well-being.
