Education

Project Hope aims to provide age-appropriate and engaging educational content for mentors and mentees alike to learn more about organ donation and transplantation. The main goal for the education materials at Project Hope is to empower participants with foundational knowledge about their health and transplanted organ(s). The education department is responsible for turning peer-reviewed, scientific information about organ donation and transplantation into patient-friendly interactive activities for pediatric and AYA Project Hope participants.

Current Initiatives: Our current projects include developing and formatting educational modules for the peer mentorship chapter at MedStar Georgetown’s Transplant Institute. It also encompasses creating and launching the mentor and mentee education resources, Clinic Crash Course sets, Transplant Journals, and a regular group newsletter.

For Volunteers: The education department is currently seeking volunteers who are willing to help create and design educational materials that align with Project Hope’s branding. We are also looking for creative ways to incorporate education into games, journal prompts, comics, and more. If you are interested in joining the education department, please fill out the interest form! We would love to have you join our team!

Contact: If you are looking for more information about the education materials available, have a specific education material need at your center, want to know more about how these materials are developed, or have any additional inquiries, please reach out to the education lead, Maddie Flickinger, at madflick02@gmail.com, or for general Project Hope questions, email infoprojecthopetransplant@gmail.com.
